The first quarter of the game all went tots way as it took Chineham a while to build into the game, some loose kicks allowing Totts to counterattack with pace and ease out into a 24-0 lead.
A couple of penalty shots and a solo converted try by Jack Soper bought Chineham back into the game before Mike Amor fell narrowly short from a barrelling pick-and-go.
The second half started evenly, with both teams exchanging scores with a strong pushover scrum finished off by Pat O’Brien, however, the boot of Totts number 10 kept Chineham at arm’s length until Tom Scoble burrowed over from a quick tap penalty, followed by another solo score from Soper, with the conversion taking the scores to 40-32 to the hosts with 10 minutes to play. The game ultimately swung on an incident that saw both teams lose a player for the conclusion of the match, fly half Soper given yellow for a slightly harsh dump tackle, and the Totts 15 the same punishment for the subsequent kick up the arse😂.
Totts finished the game with two late scores, with Chineham denied a final try despite being camped on the Totts line for the final 5 minutes.
A lot of changes to the team and people out of position so huge effort and application from the boys, and plenty to build on for this Saturday’s encounter with Aldershot and Fleet
